Peach opens its first boutique hotel The High Field Town House in Edgbaston Village
Peach has opened its first boutique hotel in Birmingham on Highfield Road, Edgbaston, next door to its existing star-performing gastropub The High Field in Edgbaston Village on the Calthorpe Estate, offering a haven within the city’s premier suburb.
As with the design of The High Field, which brought a country pub feel to town, the 12 bedroom High Field Town House majors on country house comfort and style.
The hotel occupies a classic 1860’s Victorian villa, in the heart of Edgbaston Village, which has been carefully restored whilst preserving its character and original features. The design, by Peach’s co-owner Jo Eames, uses natural themes and colours, with a restful pale aqua and grey colour scheme with bolder shades of teal in the Sitting Room, the hotel’s answer to a formal reception lobby.
Each of the 12 en suite rooms is individually furnished with period walnut and mahogany pieces sourced by Jo from her network of contacts in the antiques trade, with fine quality hand-printed English wallpapers from Cotswolds makers including Rapture & Wright, Lewis & Wood and Vanessa Arbuthnott. English-woven curtains, carpets and English-made beds are in each room whilst three have free-standing roll-top painted baths as dramatic features. The Sitting Room features an honesty bar in a beautiful old French cupboard, and is a comfortable spot to read the papers.
“When we opened The High Field in 2014, aiming to create a country pub in town, it was such an immediate hit that we jumped at the chance to convert the lovely old property next door into boutique hotel rooms with the same vibe,” says Jo. “Eighteen months later, we are opening the doors to The High Field Town House which is just five minutes away from the centre of the city yet feels a world away amongst the greenery and elegant houses of Edgbaston Village, which is rapidly becoming a chic place to eat, drink and sleep.”
Mark Lee, Chief Executive at Calthorpe Estates added, “We are delighted to see the opening of The High Field Town House and that Peach chose Edgbaston to open its first boutique roomed establishment in Birmingham. It has created something individual and special, which offers a new style of accommodation within Edgbaston Village.
“The opening of The High Field Town House alongside the popular The High Field gastropub, takes Calthorpe Estates a step closer to our long-term vision for this part of Edgbaston, which is to provide a comprehensive leisure and lifestyle offering that fully supports the local working and resident community, as well as being a draw to attract visitors to the area.”
The High Field Town House will be managed by Peach partner Sarah Robinson and Adrian Corry. They are a team that are proud to call Birmingham their home town and will be hosting every day of the year except Christmas Day.
