Just a short stroll from the heart of Edgbaston Village lies one of Birmingham’s hidden gems – Martineau Gardens. This peaceful 2.5-acre community garden is a cherished space where nature, learning and wellbeing come together. Open six days a week and free to enter, it offers a green sanctuary for everyone, from school children and city-dwellers to those in need of therapeutic support.
This summer, Martineau Gardens is embarking on a bold new chapter – and they need your help to make it flourish. Their new fundraising campaign, Small Seeds, Big Dreams, launched on Thursday 12 June, with a crowdfunder to support the creation of a brand-new building on site.
This future home for the charity will be so much more than just bricks and mortar – it will be a welcoming, accessible community hub. With indoor space for year-round volunteering and learning, accessible toilets, and a warm space for local groups to gather, the new building will secure Martineau Gardens’ ability to serve the city for generations to come.
💚 If you’ve ever enjoyed a quiet cuppa by the greenhouse, wandered their woodland paths, or watched bees at work in the summer sunshine, now is your chance to give something back. Your support will fund vital community programmes, sustainable gardening projects, and nature education for people of all ages and backgrounds.
As part of the campaign, they’ll also be sharing 1 million seeds as a symbol of growth, hope, and collective action.
🌱 Small seeds really can lead to big dreams. Join the movement and help this much-loved garden continue to bloom.
