Kicking off the fun is The Spider’s Tangle Trail at Birmingham Botanical Gardens. Running from 18th October to 2nd November, the trail invites children and their families to explore the fascinating world of spider webs through art, storytelling, poetry and hands-on discovery.

It’s a creative, gentle Halloween activity (no scares here!) and perfect for children aged 4–11. Trail sheets are just £2, with discounts for multiple children, and while standard garden entry applies, members are welcome to join in too.

From 27th to 30th October, there’s even more to enjoy with Arachnobot, a huge (and friendly) puppet spider, who’ll be helping families build a giant collaborative web across the Gardens’ main lawn. It’s a brilliant way to connect with nature, spark imaginations, and get outdoors during half term.

Back in the centre of Edgbaston Village, Boston Tea Party is hosting a series of Halloween events for younger visitors:

Friday 24th October, 6–7.30pm – £2 on the door

Halloween Party

Dress up and enjoy spooky games, treats and Halloween fun for the whole family.

Monday 27th October, 2pm – Free, drop-in

Witchcrafternoon
An afternoon of spooky arts and crafts — just pop in and get creative!

Tuesday 28th October, 2pm – £3 per child

Pumpkin Painting
All materials are provided, just email [email protected] to book your spot.

Looking for somewhere to eat after all that activity? Smoke + Ash, also in Edgbaston Village, has you covered with their brilliant Kids Eat for £1 offer. Whether it’s a quick bite after pumpkin painting or a relaxed family dinner, it’s a great excuse for a pizza night.

And as the week draws to a close, The Physician will be getting into the spooky spirit with their Halloween Extravaganza on Saturday 1st November. Expect delicious food, seasonal drinks and a cosy atmosphere — ideal for a more grown-up celebration (or a family-friendly evening out).

Whether you’re wandering through spider trails at Birmingham Botanical Gardens, getting messy with crafts at Boston Tea Party, or enjoying a meal out in one of Edgbaston Village’s welcoming eateries, there’s something for everyone this half term. It’s the perfect time to explore, celebrate and make a few autumn memories close to home.

See you in Edgbaston Village — and Happy Halloween! 🎃
