Our Christmas Lights Switch-On – Saturday 8 November

The festive season is just around the corner, and we can feel the magic starting to sparkle in Edgbaston Village. On Saturday 8 November, Greenfield Crescent will come alive with twinkling lights, seasonal cheer, and the joyful buzz of families and friends gathering to celebrate. It’s the perfect way to start the countdown to Christmas with us.

We’ll be kicking off the celebrations with an extended edition of our Artisan Market, Birmingham’s biggest, running from 10am until 6pm along Greenfield Crescent. With over 80 stalls, there’s something for everyone, from beautifully handcrafted gifts and unique Christmas decorations to artisanal foods, seasonal treats, and sweet indulgences.

Take your time exploring the market, discover one-of-a-kind presents, sample festive goodies, or simply soak up the lively, twinkling atmosphere with us. Whether it’s the smell of mulled wine in the air, a steaming cup of hot chocolate in hand, or the aroma of freshly prepared hot food tempting you from a nearby stall, the market is the perfect place to start your festive day.

From 3pm, the excitement ramps up as the main stage comes alive with entertainment for all ages. Enjoy performances from Elmhurst Ballet School, sing along to classic Christmas carols, and watch a magical Frozen-inspired performance. Santa and Mrs Claus will also be making a special appearance, delighting children and adults alike.

Then comes the grand finale: the lights switch-on at 6pm, when Edgbaston Village will sparkle for the festive season. It’s a magical moment that marks the start of Christmas in our community — a time to gather, celebrate, and make memories together.
