The Edgbaston Scopes Four Awards in One Night

The Edgbaston, in the heart of Edgbaston Village, scoped four awards at The Midlands Food Drink & Hospitality Awards on Monday evening at Aston Villa. The MFD&H Awards celebrates and recognises the best in the food, drink and hospitality industry across the Midlands.

The team won Best Afternoon Tea, Best Cocktail Bar – for the fourth year running, Tommy Matthews was awarded Bar Manager of The Year, and Jayne O’Malley was awarded General Manager of The Year.

Jayne O’Malley General Manager of 4 years said “I am proud to have built, developed and maintained a long standing consistent team who delight our guests every day with their creativity, skill and enthusiasm, and in their delivery of genuine hospitality, all of which we are so passionate about.”

This award is the latest in a long list of awards for the family owned and independently operated boutique hotel of 5 years. It has one of the best recognised cocktail bars in the Country and a renowned and recommended ‘Best Afternoon Tea outside of London’. Earlier this year the team won UK Bar Team of The Year 2019 with Imbibe and then went on to be a finalist ‘in the top three’ for Hotel Bar of The Year with CLASS Bar Awards, which recognises the bars and bartenders that set the standard for hospitality and innovation across the UK. Tommy Matthews Bar Manager has also just competed in the World Class GB Final and was placed third. The Edgbaston has been placed 25th in the UK Top 50 Cocktail Bars – the only bar in the Midlands to make it onto the list and the hotel was featured earlier in the year in the Top 50 hotels in the UK with The Guardian. Recently The Edgbaston expanded from 6 bedrooms to 20 bedrooms.
