Enjoy a bit of Easter cheer
Easter time, with the arrival of spring, warmer days and more daylight, is a time to celebrate whatever the circumstances. This year is no exception, however with the coronavirus lockdown in place we’ve had to be a bit more creative. To help spread some cheer, we have come up with some ideas of what you can do with your family or house mates.
The ideas below have been inspired by the team behind Edgbaston Village and some of our wonderful businesses across the Village.

Get crafty
Eggcellent!
Bring out the artist within by decorating an egg – with paint, felt, card or felt tips. Simply boil an egg(s), allow to cool, then get creative and decorate. Once created you can use it to decorate your home over Easter and share on social media with family and friends (however, please make sure you throw the egg away and do not eat afterwards).
Easter decorations
Create your own Easter decorations, whether that’s making a garland or hanging items. You can use items from the garden for the decorations, alternatively you could draw, or print an image then and paint/decorate it to create Easter eggs, bunnies or chicks, then display away!
Easter bonnet and hat
Grab a hat, bonnet or cap, then decorate using anything you like to create an Easter theme!
Easter face mask
What do you fancy, being a bunny or chick? Or maybe something else with an Easter theme. Simply draw the face you want to be or print an image on card, decorate, cut out the eyes, add some string or ribbon to tie around your head and you have your own special face mask in one!
Face painting
As an alternative to a mask, you could always grab some face paints and paint your face instead.
Bunny ears
Make your own bunny ears (which could be worn with a bunny mask). Simply draw the ears and create your own special look from painted card, felt, ribbon, material (and for the really adventurous you could knit them) – and attach to a (head) band and there you go!
Box clever
Create an Easter scene in a box. Simply select a shoe box, breakfast cereal, or any suitable box. Pick your favourite book, movie, game for the theme, then use paper, felt, recyclable material from around the house to create the scene and include some eggs within the box to give it an Easter theme.
Egg and spoon race
Grab an egg and spoon, create a start and finish line. One, two, three – go – but don’t drop the egg!
Easter cheer
Bring a smile to people’s faces, by painting an Easter message on a card or paper, then pop it in the window for all the local community to see. You might want to thank our wonderful NHS team and the wide range of key workers for the essential jobs they are doing too.
Get active
Easter egg hunt
Easter would not be Easter without an egg hunt! Whatever your age, you can have fun with a hunt around your home or the garden, or both! If you’ve not got any chocolate eggs or mini eggs, you could draw some eggs which then lead to a larger treat (a chocolate bar, flowers, a book, gift or lovely bottle of (Loki) wine).
Blue Plaque walks
If you live in Edgbaston or Harborne, why not get out and enjoy the wonderful weather, whilst staying safe, respecting social distancing and staying out no more than an hour. Last but not least
Simply beautiful
The gates may be closed at The Birmingham Botanical Gardens and an Easter visit isn’t possible, however Chris one of the gardeners has created a virtual mini tour of the Rock Garden just as the garden is coming into bloom. To view click here.
