Tipitina Jazz Band come to The Edgbaston for the first time

Peter York, from the Spencer Davis Group, will be performing with Tipitina Jazz Band for one night only at The Edgbaston at 18 Highfield Road. It is the first time The Edgbaston, set within the gastro quarter of The Village in Edgbaston, will have hosted a live jazz event as part of the Birmingham Jazz and Blues Festival, so don’t miss out on what promises to be an superb performance in a fantastic setting.

As Darren and Stuart Insall, owners of The Edgbaston explained, “Having spent many years living in New Orleans, we jumped at the opportunity to host this New Orleans inspired evening in collaboration with the Jazz festival.”

They added, “Tipitina deliver their own unique take on blues, barrelhouse, boogie and the gospel sounds of New Orleans, and follow in the footsteps of Professor Longhair, Dr John, James Booker, Fats Domino and Allen Toussaint. They delivered the critically acclaimed ‘I Wish I Was In New Orleans’ album and have been celebrated by The Guardian, Jazz Journal and BBC Radio 2’s Paul Jones, who have praised them for bringing youthful energy, polished musicianship, originality and a tremendous live show which will captivate any audience.”

You can see this wonderful line up at 8pm on Thursday 9th July at The Edgbaston. Tickets are just £15 each and include entrance, a bowl of red beans and rice. The Edgbaston will also be producing a New Orleans inspired cocktail to add to the evening, that you can buy and then immerse yourself in the whole experience.
