Work underway to transform Greenfield Crescent
Calthorpe Estates is proud to announce that work is underway to transform Greenfield Crescent in Edgbaston Village – further enhancing one of Birmingham’s most thriving leisure and lifestyle destinations.
Working with Birmingham City Council, Calthorpe Estates have invested significantly in the project which will see a new streetscape created to help set Edgbaston Village apart, with high quality public realm areas, easier pedestrian access and reduced traffic. With a vision to create a greener, safer and more accessible Village, the construction work is set to complete in Spring 2021.
The newly designed area, which will include the introduction of a shared-surface section, will offer pedestrian only access during restricted times of the day. High-quality materials are being used which complement the period style of Greenfield Crescent, along with hand laid granite stone finishes. Upgraded wayfinding signage and easy access to additional parking spaces will bring to life an improved and more convenient leisure location for those living, working and visiting the area to enjoy.
Already home to a variety of award-winning independent shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, including the Michelin starred Simpsons, The High Field and Loki Wine, along with Neptune, OKA and BoConcept home stores, plans unveiled by Calthorpe Estates show the potential for even more al fresco dining and shopping options in the area.
The addition of the new Edgbaston Village Metro stop – set to open at the end of 2021 – will only further add to the appeal of the area as a popular destination for independent businesses and visitors alike.
Haydn Cooper, Chief Executive of Calthorpe Estates, said: “We are thrilled to announce we have broken ground on the Greenfield Crescent improvements, which will further establish Edgbaston Village as a premier leisure and lifestyle destination.
“Working in partnership with Birmingham City Council, the construction works are being delivered by McPhillips and once complete the new streetscape will set the Village apart and bring a variety of benefits, including improved facilities, more greenery, as well as an increased safe pedestrian access, ultimately offering a better experience and more appealing environment for those visiting the area.
“The works form part of our ambitious plans and high level of investment into Edgbaston Village, aiming to offer businesses an enhanced environment, and visitors a more appealing place to spend time. We are looking forward to welcoming a host of new businesses to the area and continuing to develop and establish the Village as a must-visit location for those living, working in and visiting Edgbaston.”
In addition to its flourishing urban village in the heart of Edgbaston, Calthorpe Estates has recently established new world-class medical facilities at Pebble Mill and is working to transform New Garden Square, a 10.7-acre site on the Hagley Road into an exciting new mixed-use scheme.
